Assitant Professor (Term), School of Public Policy
Simon Fraser University
Hello! I'm an Assistant Professor (Term) in Simon Fraser University's School of Public Policy. I study the politics behind health policy processes and outcomes, with a focus on non-state actors and across local-to-global scales of governance. Often, my work explores the intersection of global health issues and environmental politics — bringing a health angle to environmental issues, or vice versa. My research is motivated by the goal to generate knowledge that can be used to strengthen processes and models of health governance.
My current research program is on pandemic governance. This includes my dissertation research examining the politics of the public-private partnership that governed the global COVID-19 response. I am also part of a CIHR-funded project studying COVID-19 policy in four Canadian provinces.
I completed my PhD in Political Science from the University of British Columbia (2025), a Master of Public Health from the University of Toronto (2018), and a Bachelor of Health Sciences with Honours from the University of Calgary (2014). Outside the academy, I have held positions with the Public Health Agency of Canada, World Health Organization, and Aga Khan University - Karachi. In 2025, I received a Meritorious Service Medal - Civilian Division from the Governor General of Canada for my work co-founding and co-directing a mental health nonprofit.
